The BIOSAFETY CLEARING-HOUSE (BCH) is an Internet-based reciprocal information exchange mechanism which aims to contribute to the realisation of the objectives of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) 1992, which was ratified by the Italian Government with Law no. 124 on the 14 February 1994. The role of the BCH is to facilitate the exchange of scientific, technical, environmental and legal information on, and experience with, genetically modified organisms (GMOs) for the benefit of contracting Parties of the Convention, persons involved in the risk assessment and risk management of GMOs, and the general public.
